Long Island, New York
Blue nose Pit Bull and American Bully puppies from a Long Island, New York family that has bred blue dogs for many years.
Why blue
Blue nose puppies are some of the most requested we raise, on Long Island, in New York City and well beyond. It's easy to see why: that steel gray coat with the matching nose is striking. But a blue puppy is only as good as the dogs behind it, and blue has been used to sell a lot of poorly bred puppies. So here's what blue really is, what we do differently and what to watch out for, from a family that has raised Pit Bulls and American Bullies for over thirty years.
What blue nose means
"Blue nose Pit Bull" isn't a separate breed. Blue is a diluted black coat: a recessive gene lightens black to gray-blue, and the nose, lips and eye rims come out the same gray-blue instead of black. A puppy has to inherit the gene from both parents to be blue, which is why a blue dog can come from parents who aren't blue. You'll find blue in both American Pit Bull Terriers and American Bullies.
The honest part
Blue-coated dogs can be more prone to skin and coat problems, and we'll always tell you so before you buy. It's written into our contract too: skin and coat problems common in blue dogs aren't covered by the health guarantee. What helps most is good quality food, regular grooming and a vet who knows the breed. Any breeder who tells you blue dogs never have skin issues isn't being straight with you.
Price
Our puppies usually run $2,000 to $3,000, depending on the litter and the puppy, not just the color. Be careful with anyone who calls blue "rare" to charge more, or who sells "blue nose Pit Bull puppies" for $150 to $500 online. Blue isn't rare, and a puppy that cheap almost always has no papers, no vet care and no breeder behind it.
How we breed blue
When I plan a pairing, color is the last thing I look at. Temperament comes first, then structure, then health, then size. A blue puppy from parents with a calm, people-loving nature and a sound frame is worth waiting for. A blue puppy from parents you can't meet isn't worth any price.
Meet our dogsBlue nose questions
No. Blue nose is a coat and nose color found in American Pit Bull Terriers and American Bullies.
No. Color has nothing to do with temperament. Temperament comes from the parents and from how a puppy is raised, which is why we breed for it first and raise every litter around our kids.

A blue puppy stays blue, but the shade can lighten or darken as the adult coat comes in, and blue puppies' eyes often start blue and change in the first months.
